{"id":9635,"date":"2021-06-21T01:23:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T08:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apwu73.com\/?p=9635"},"modified":"2021-06-21T16:25:19","modified_gmt":"2021-06-21T23:25:19","slug":"union-secures-third-historic-staffing-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apwu73.com\/?p=9635","title":{"rendered":"Union Secures Third Historic Staffing Agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today, the American Postal Workers Union and postal management signed a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apwu.org\/sites\/default\/files\/mou_additional_function_1_staffing_june_2021_apwu_-_md_signed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">major new agreement<\/a>&nbsp;to address longstanding understaffing issues in mail processing functions at the Postal Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the terms of the new agreement the \u201cFunction\u201d 1 mail processing staffing will be increased with 3,741 new career positions. The agreement also establishes the additional conversion of at least 3,641 PSEs to career. In total the agreement will result in the 7,400 PSE conversions. These conversions will take place no later than August 14, 2021 and will be applied to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apwu.org\/sites\/default\/files\/clerk_conversion_numbers.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">245 installations<\/a>&nbsp;throughout the country as determined by management.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of this agreement, and in an effort to improve service provided to the public during the holidays, the APWU has agreed to extend by two pay periods (four weeks) the 2021 \u201cHoliday Peak Season\u201d in Function 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis agreement is another milestone in our priorities of securing career positions for postal workers and providing top-class service to the public,\u201d said APWU President Mark Dimondstein. \u201cWe\u2019ve been relentless in urging management to address staffing issues.
