{"id":6407,"date":"2020-05-29T18:42:57","date_gmt":"2020-05-30T01:42:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apwu73.com\/?p=6407"},"modified":"2020-06-05T18:45:02","modified_gmt":"2020-06-06T01:45:02","slug":"join-the-mass-poor-peoples-assembly-moral-march-on-washington-digitally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apwu73.com\/?p=6407","title":{"rendered":"Join the Mass Poor People\u2019s Assembly &#038; Moral March on Washington Digitally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"news-sub-title\"><strong>A National Call for Moral Revival: June 20, 2020 Online at 10am &amp; 6pm EST<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On June 20th, the Poor People\u2019s Campaign will hold the largest digital and social media gathering of poor and low-wealth people, moral and religious leaders, advocates, and people of conscience in this nation\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>The recent protests and the global pandemic are exposing the already existing crisis of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, the war economy and militarism, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism.<\/p>\n<p>On June 20, 140 million poor and low-income people across this nation will be heard during the Poor People\u2019s digital mass gathering.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, the APWU National Convention voted to support honorary APWU Member\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4KK5rckroDc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rev. William Barber\u2019s Moral Monday movement,<\/a>\u00a0a broad coalition of activists fighting for justice. Rev. William Barber is now co-chairing the Poor People\u2019s Campaign, and APWU is pledging to take a stand together by joining their digital mass gathering: A National Call for Moral Revival.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, the APWU National Convention passed a resolution to, \u201cgo on record supporting the general goals of the\u00a0<i>Poor Peoples Campaign<\/i>, and be it further; Resolved, that American Postal Workers Union locals, states and members (both active and retired) are encouraged to participate in actions of the\u00a0<i>Poor Peoples Campaign<\/i>\u00a0in their local communities, and be it further; Resolved, that linking hands in solidarity with community-based organizations such as the Poor Peoples Campaign is an integral part of building solidarity with the people of this country in the struggle to save the public postal service and expand postal services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we all get together \u2013 labor and civil rights &#8211; when we all get together,\u201d Rev. Barber said to the 2014 Convention Delegates, \u201cWhat a day! What a day! What a day it will be!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That day is coming on June 20, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a liaison between labor and civil rights.
