09\/15\/2017<\/span> - <\/span>Just as recovery has barely begun from\u00a0Hurricane Harvey<\/a>, Hurricane Irma delivered a second punch, leaving in its trail devastation that affects postal workers in the Caribbean, Florida and many parts of the south. It will be a long road to recovery for her victims.<\/p>\n

APWU members can offset the devastation by donating to the Postal Employees\u2019 Relief Fund<\/a>\u00a0(PERF). There are several ways to securely donate:<\/p>\n

  1. By designating #10268 during the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) employees can often give more generously by making small, bi-weekly contributions throughout the year through payroll deduction. The CFC is set to kick-off in less than a month, on October 2.<\/li>\n
  2. Anyone can make contributions anytime of the year by credit card through PERF\u2019s website. The site allows donors to make a one-time donation or to set automatic, recurring donations.<\/li>\n
  3. Checks or money orders are also accepted throughout the year. Donations should be mailed directly to the:\n

    PERF provides relief grants to assist qualifying active and retired postal employees to help reestablish residence and replace other necessities to get life back on track. The Postal Employees\u2019 Relief Fund was created as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization to provide financial assistance for postal employees in the their hour of need - it belongs to all postal workers and is administrated by the postal unions and management equally. PERF depends almost entirely on the generosity of postal employees to help coworkers rebuild their lives after natural disasters and home fires.<\/p>\n
