{"id":11013,"date":"2021-08-20T14:20:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-20T21:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apwu73.com\/?p=11013"},"modified":"2021-08-22T14:22:08","modified_gmt":"2021-08-22T21:22:08","slug":"osha-releases-new-covid-19-guidance-to-protect-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apwu73.com\/?p=11013","title":{"rendered":"OSHA Releases New COVID-19 Guidance to Protect Workers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As the Delta Variant of the COVID-19 virus is raging through the country the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO, encourages you to follow recommendations that slow the spread of COVID-19. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Wearing a Face Covering when indoors no matter the level of spread in your community<\/li><li>Practicing Social Distancing<\/li><li>Washing your hands on a regular basis<\/li><li>And you are encouraged to get one of the approved vaccines<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, August 13, 2021, OSHA release new guidance for employers to help protect workers from contracting and spreading COVID-19.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/coronavirus\/safework\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The updated guidance<\/a>&nbsp;includes the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Recommends that&nbsp;<em><strong>all workers\u2014<\/strong><\/em>including fully vaccinated workers\u2014in areas of substantial or high community transmission wear masks in order to protect unvaccinated workers;&nbsp;<ul><li>Substantial or High Community Spread is occurring in 95% of US counties as of August18, 2021. You can see the current community spread here:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#county-view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDC COVID Data Tracker<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Recommends that fully vaccinated workers who have close contacts with people withcoronavirus wear masks for up to 14 days unless they have a negative coronavirus test at least 3-5 days after such contact;<\/li><li>Clarifies recommendations to protect workers and other at-risk workers in manufacturing, meatand poultry processing, seafood processing and agricultural processing; and<\/li><li>Encourages workers to get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible (USPS employees are allowedto take time off under Emergency Federal Employee Leave to get a vaccine and recover from any adverse side effects).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These new recommendations are also in line with the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/communication\/guidance.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;recommendations from the CDC<\/a>. \u201cTo maximize protection from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/variants\/delta-variant.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Delta variant&nbsp;<\/a>and prevent possibly spreading it to others, wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#county-view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">high transmission.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is an image of the current community spread as of August 18, 2021, that can be found at:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#county-view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDC COVID Data Tracker<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#county-view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#county-view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/apwu.org\/sites\/default\/files\/covdi_data.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the Delta Variant of the COVID-19 virus is raging through the country the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO, encourages you to follow recommendations that slow the spread of COVID-19.
