{"id":5220,"date":"2020-03-29T14:25:25","date_gmt":"2020-03-29T14:25:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apwu73.com\/?page_id=5220"},"modified":"2026-03-25T06:58:52","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T13:58:52","slug":"contract","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/apwu73.com\/?page_id=5220","title":{"rendered":"CONTRACT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Article 15 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement governs the grievance procedure between the APWU and the Postal Service.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A grievance is defined in Article 15 as a \u201cdispute, difference, disagreement or complaint between the parties related to wages, hours, and conditions of employment.\u201d That definition is very broad. You should never let a postal supervisor or manager tell you that you \u201cdon\u2019t have a grievance\u201d. If you have questions about whether or not you have a grievance you should request \u201cunion time\u201d from your immediate supervisor to meet with a local steward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The grievance procedure consists of 4 \u201csteps\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Step-1<\/strong> where an individual meets and discusses the issue with their supervisor,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step-2<\/strong> where a union official meets with a Postal Service official if the issue was not resolved at step-1,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step-3<\/strong> where a national APWU representative meets with an area postal official if resolution does not occur at step-2, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step-4<\/strong> finally, binding arbitration in front of a neutral arbitrator selected jointly by the parties to hear the grievance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In order for a grievance to be considered \u201ctimely\u201d it must be first discussed (\u201cfiled\u201d) at step-1 within <strong>14-days<\/strong> of when the employee or the union learned, of may reasonably been expected to have learned, of the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you believe you may have a grievance or if you are unsure whether or not you have a grievance, please request to see a shop steward from your immediate supervisor as soon as
